The LCC now recognizes scholarly excellence at the graduate level, with an award for the best paper presented at professional meetings of classical studies and related fields.. The first recipient of the award is Helene A. Coccagna of UNC-CH for her APA 2009 paper “Manipulating mastoi: The Female Breast in the Sympotic Setting.” For details on nominations, please see the Call for Nominees. The Rehak Award, named in memory of former LCC co-chair Paul Rehak, honors the excellence of a publication relating to the LCC's mission, including, but not limited to, homosocial and homoerotic relationships and environments, ancient sexuality and gender roles, and representation of the gendered body The most recent recipient of the Rehak award is H. Christian Blood of UC-Santa Cruz, “The Trouble with Icons: Recent Ideological Appropriations of Plato’s Symposium.” Helios 35.2 (2008): 197-222.
